Description of the area:

The Savegre Hotel, in San Gerardo de Dota, is the perfect place to enjoy the splendor of the Cloud Forest. Our comfortable rooms are surrounded by gardens, approximately 11 miles of trails, centennial oaks, and one of the purest rivers in Costa Rica. If you are interested in seeing more than 150 species of birds, including the radiant Quetzal, this is the place for you.

Our Junior Suites come with a fireplace or heating system, queen-sized beds and a large bathroom equipped with a bathtub and solar hot water. It’s worth mentioning that these wood rooms are separated to ensure our guests ample space full of peacefulness and privacy.

    At Savegre Hotel, we are committed to preserving the environment and helping the socio-economic development of the San Gerardo de Dota community. We strive to make our activities as environmentally-friendly as possible, and we actively participate in community projects.

    Some of our efforts include:

  • he toilets are graded in order to use the least amount of water with every flush.

  • We use biodegradable cleaning products, low-energy light bulbs and we take advantage of solar energy to heat our water.

  • We maintain a private reserve of 988 acres.

  • We sponsor and participate in conservation-minded associations and groups.

  • We are direct collaborators with Los Quetzales National Park.

  • We manage reforestation programs and regeneration in areas that were formerly used for agriculture or livestock.

  • We categorize waste and send it to recycling centers.

  • We use Oxo-biodegradable bags to collect garbage.

  • We use organic waste to make fertilizer used in our gardens.

  • Sewage and other wastewaters are passed through septic tanks treated with biological agents that help to decompose material.
