Description of the area:

We are in the heart of the Central Valley among exuberant green prairies and surrounded by beautiful mountains, only 5 km (3 miles) from Juan Santamaría International Airport and a short distance from the center of the capital city, San José.

Braulio Carrillo National Park is only 45 minutes away and Poás Volcano National Park and Barva Volcano are 1 hour 20 minutes away. These are the main attractions in Heredia province and they are ideal for hiking, horseback riding, or bicycling. Nearby you can visit the many attractions of our capital city: Children’s Museum, National Museum, Gold Museum, Jade Museum, and more.

The Hotel Ramada Plaza Herradura has 230 fully-equipped rooms, 3 pools, casino, outdoor Jacuzzi, 3 restaurants (one with international, one with Japanese and one with Mediterranean cuisine), a private club with tennis courts, gymnasium, and an 18-hole golf course, as well as the largest and best equipped conference center in the country, all meant to create the best environment and make our clients’ stays pleasant and memorable.

Available activities:

Adventure, sports
Spirtual/religious activities

How to get there:

  • Closest international airport: Juan Santamaria.

  • Closest domestic airport: Tobias Bolaños, Pavas.
  • Our property is accessible from anywhere and only 3 miles from the international airport. Good roads and a recently constructed pedestrian bridge ensure safe, easy access. There is good bus service in the area, to and from Alajuela, San José, and Heredia.

    Making a difference:

With raised awareness about the importance of sustainability, the highest executives issue and enforce directives that lead to the consolidation of a series of actions that favor conservation of the environment that surrounds us. Each departmental head is responsible for properly carrying out activities that affect the environment directly or indirectly: purchases, gardens, foods, reception, sales, and more; regardless of their job position, everyone in our organization is committed to making improvements for nature and the environment. Familiarity with the sustainable tourism program, putting it into practice, and sharing it with our clients is each individual’s commitment at the Hotel Ramada Plaza Herradura.

In August 1999, our hotel was awarded four of the five possible bands for environmental sustainability in the Costa Rican Tourism Institute’s Environmental Sustainability Certification Program, ensuring our commitment to the environment and making our hotel the first in the city to receive this prestigious distinction. At the Hotel Ramada Plaza Herradura, we are proud to be among the best hotels in Costa Rica that are contributing to sustainable development.
