Description of the area:
Hacienda Manteles is a very beautiful farmhouse located only 13 miles (21 km) from the city of Baños. We have decorated it very tastefully to create an elegant and inviting environment. By staying with us you will experience the ambiance of the hacienda and our personalized treatment, which makes Hacienda Manteles a unique place for visiting the Ecuadorian Andes. We have almost 500 acres of montane forest where you can find valuable plant and animal species.
The Hacienda is surrounded by spectacular nature and is located between Sangay (a World Heritage Site) and Llanganati National Parks - both have important natural and historic features and you can obtain more information about them at the Hacienda or on guided visits to these attractions.
We offer homemade meals prepared (as much as possible) with organic ingredients; all of our dishes have their own style and most importantly, we prepare them with much dedication and affection.
At the Hacienda and in its surroundings you can choose from a wide variety of outdoor activities and tours for all tastes, such as horseback rides, short and long hikes, oxcart rides, mountain biking, zip-lines (canopy), organic agriculture (guests can do activities of this sort), running river rapids, bird-watching, viewing orchids, and watching eruptions of the Tungurahua volcano.

How to get there:
Making a difference:
At Hacienda Manteles we concern ourselves with the conservation of the environment. We implement best practices and conduct several projects that involve nature and the neighboring communities. For a very long time we have taken care of nearly 500 acres of montane forest, one of the few forests that remain in the zone and the idea is to motivate the people to protect remnant forests in nearby zones. Together with people from the community, we are developing a community-based agro-tourism adventure project. Little by little – and thanks to support from the visitors – we are buying more forest and reforesting areas.
The croplands at the Hacienda have beds of organic products. At this time we are trying out different products in an attempt to find some that could be beneficial for the zone in general. We also work on recycling projects with the community and we plan to continue work with environmental education.
General rates:
$26 - $50 - Rates include breakfast, a welcome cocktail, fresh fruit of the season in the room, hike to the waterfalls of the Hacienda (located within the 500-acre montane forest we protect), and complimentary tea, coffee, and aromatic water.
